Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Payday Loan Store

The man believed to have robbed the store at gunpoint still is on the loose, police say.

A man that held up a Bolingbrook a payday loan store at gunpoint this morning is on the loose, police said.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Bolingbrook’s , located at 348 Commons Drive.

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa said police dispatch received a hang up 911 call and upon recall, employees said they had just been victim of an armed robbery.

Rompa said police are searching for a white male, about 6-feet-tall, stocky and between 30 to 40 years old with a black beard.

According to the report, the man entered the store just before 11 a.m. and waved a black semi-automatic handgun, demanding the safe be opened.

The man took approximately $200 in cash and placed it into a plastic bag before fleeing on foot toward Route 53.

No injuries were reported.

Police K-9 units tracked the scent past Route 53 all the way to Frontage Road, Rompa said.

The incident remains under investigation.
