Police: Investigation in Neglected Dogs Case May Take Some Time

Bolingbrook police are working with the Will County State's Attorney to investigate an incident that found 27 neglected dogs last weekend.

Officials say filing the appropriate charges against whoever may take some time.

Police found 27 dogs in a Bolingbrook home on New Town Court, a small side circle near the intersection of Pinecrest Road and Falconridge Way, on June 11.

One of those dogs was found dead and most were locked up in cages or kennels in the garage and family room.

According to one report, neighbors of the home said the yard smelled like sewage and passers-by could hear barking coming from the house all day and night.

Bolingbrook Lieutenant Mike Rompa said the living conditions were deplorable and uninhabitable.

A preliminary investigation was conducted and a search warrant was obtained but no suspects had been identified.

The Bolingbrook Police Department is now working with the Will County State's Attorney's office to decipher the charges, Rompa said.

Now, Bolingbrook Animal Control is housing the dogs, with the assistance of Will County and Naperville animal controls.
