Police: Man Arrested Following Two Armed Robberies in Bolingbrook

Bolingbrook police say 21-year-old Demarius Styles was involved in two armed robberies in Bolingbrook in the past month.

A 21-year-old Bolingbrook man was arrested Oct. 24 for his alleged involvement in two armed robberies in Bolingbrook, according to police.

Demarius D. Styles, 21, of 152 Lawton Ln. in Bolingbrook, was arrested Oct. 24 and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and theft.

Two warrants were obtained for his alleged involvement in these incidents, both of which took place near Hometown Pantry, 114 S. Rt. 53. One took place on Sept. 30; the other on Oct. 13.

Aggravated battery, attempted armed robbery, Sept. 30

A 19-year-old was struck in the head with a handgun after a group of men approached him at 9:30 p.m. at 114 S. Rt. 53, police said. He was sent to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for treatment of his head wound.

The victim said he saw a man talking on a cell phone near Hometown Pantry. Three other men approached the victim from behind and grabbed him. The man on the cell phone then joined the group.

One of the men produced a gun and struck the victim. Nothing was stolen. The group fled on foot from the area. They were reported to all be in their 20's.

The incident remains under investigation.

Armed Robbery, Oct. 13

A 28-year-old man purchased cigarettes and a scratch-off lottery ticket in Hometown Pantry Oct. 13 around 7 p.m. He paid with a $100 bill and put the change in his sock. Three men watched the transaction.

The 28-year-old victim then started walking to Wal-Mart, 200 S. Route 53, to wait for a ride. The group asked for a cigarette and followed the victim to Wal-Mart. Once at Wal-Mart, the offenders told the victim they had a gun, and the victim was going to walk with them into Beaconridge.

The group walked him to the area next to 445 Mallview, stuck a handgun in his chest and demanded his money. The group took the victim's money and cell phone.

Two of the men, Carl L. Frazier, 24, of 1223 S. 19th in Maywood, and Herbert J. Hugger, 16, of 14937 Cleveland in Posen, were
located on Beaconridge Drive across from the clubhouse and were detained. They were positively identified.

Styles remained at large, police said, and was arrested on warrant from this incident.

Third charge

The third charge listed is a FTA warrant from a 2011 Joliet case.

Why are there not police permanently patrolling that shopping center on 53 south of Boughton. That is a crime haven. I stay far, far away from it. The ghetto of Bolingbrook.

Why does it take weeks for the news on these crimes to be published? Do they route the news through Dodge City and back by pony express? Is it the fault of the reporter or the Bolingbrook Police or the administration? When crimes occur in Chicago the incidents are in the paper the next day!
