Police: Drunk Driver Crashes Car Into Bolingbrook House

The car struck a parked car, ran over the lawn, crashed through the side wall of the house and ended up in the garage, according to Bolingbrook police.

A 36-year-old Bolingbrook man has been charged with driving under the influence after police said his car slammed through the side wall of a Bolingbrook home and stopped inside the garage.

Michael D. Karwoske, 36, was arrested Oct. 27 at 3:24 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and  operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to Bolingbrook police. The incident took place at 580 Eric Way.

When police arrived, they found Karwoske was standing outside of 580 Eric Way, his 2003 gray Chrysler van inside the home.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated Karwoske was traveling north on Thomas Road when he struck a parked car on the 500 block of Thomas. Upon impact, the parked car rolled down the street and ended up in a driveway of a residence on the 100 block of Norman. The driver continued to travel north, went across the lawn and into the garage at 580 Eric Way.

The Bolingbrook Building Department was contacted to check the structure of the residence.

The driver was checked by Bolingbrook Fire Department Medics and was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for evaluation. "Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in this crash," according to police reports. Other than the driver, no other injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
