Relief, Disbelief Follow Arrest of Man Who Allegedly Tried to Abduct Bolingbrook Students

Bolingbrook police announced Wednesday they had arrested 20-year-old Kareem Green in connection with two attempted abductions of Bolingbrook High School students in January. 

Bolingbrook Patch readers responded to the arrest with both relief and disbelief. Some said that Bolingbrook police had arrested the wrong man.

Kareem L. Green, of 505 Preston Dr., was arrested Tuesday. He was positively identified by both attempted abduction victims and a key witness, police said. He was charged with attempted kidnapping, two counts of unlawful restraint, aggravated battery and battery.

The arrest came about a month after the two incidents were reported. One took place Jan. 29; the other Jan. 31. 

Some Bolingbrook Patch readers were relieved. On our Facebook page and the site, they said:

• Very nice job, PD.

But other readers -- those who said they went to school with Green or were friends with him -- wondered if Bolingbrook police had arrested the wrong man. 

One reader wrote: 

"you can try and say that he 'conned' people into believing his nice but i highly doubt he would have been able to fool every single person. literally anyone who knows kareem knows hes genuinely one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people around and it is disgusting that anyone has accused him of such a thing. if any of you spent five minutes with kareem you would be able to see right past the hasty views of those who havent gotten the chancw to know him. keep looking, bpd."

• I cant believe this is the same young man I know, I know they have the wrong guy, so they need to still be looking!!
• He's actually not a creep but the sweetest guy ever. This is incredibly unbelievable.
