Cats, Dogs Rescued by Boat from Flooded Bolingbrook Animal Control Building

Employees evacuated animals from the building Thursday morning, which was located in the midst of flooded Royce Road in Bolingbrook.

Public Works employees used boats to evacuate cats and dogs trapped in Bolingbrook's Animal Control building Thursday morning. 

The water level within the building is now two feet deep. The animals were moved before this water level was reached, according to police.

The building is located at 145 Royce Road, near Route 53. Royce has been closed between Greene Road and Concord Lane due to flooding. The animal control building sits between those two roads. 

The animals were transported to a vet on higher ground at Royce Road and Route 53. Humane Haven and Animal Control are placing the animals in homes.

"Luckily a lot of our volunteers have stepped up to help," one woman wrote on the Bolingbrook Patch Facebook page
