Romeoville Man Dies in I-55 Crash: Police

Walter Martineck, 47, of Romeoville, was killed when his delivery truck slammed into the back of a semi.

A Romeoville man died Wednesday afternoon when the delivery truck he was driving struck the back of a semi-trailer on I-55 just south of the Weber Road exit near Bolingbrook.

Walter J. Martineck, 47, was pronounced dead at 3:41 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office.

Illinois State Police said the crash occurred when Martineck's box truck rear-ended a semi-trailer, sending the semi into a passenger vehicle.

Three other people — one person from the passenger car and two from the semi — were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
