Police Charge Teen in Drug-Related Shooting

Police have arrested a 16-year-old Bolingbrook boy in connection with a shooting late last month.

A 16-year-old Bolingbrook boy has been arrested after police said last week.

Brandon Thompson was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Bolingbrook Drive and taken to River Valley Youth Detention facility, police said. Charged as an adult, he faces charges of aggravated battery, armed robbery, and reckless discharge of a firearm. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

The motive of the shooting “appears to be narcotics related,” police said.

Bolingbrook officers responded at 5:39 p.m. Jan. 29 to the 100 block of Somerset Lane where they found a 16-year-old teen with a gunshot wound to the neck.

The victim said the shooting happened behind a Boughton Road business and that he was taken by a friend from that area to the Somerset location.

Emergency responders provided medical treatment and the teen was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

Thompson is forbidden to have contact with the victim.

A preliminary hearing arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 27 in Will County Court.
