Thieves Cutting Holes in Ceilings in String of Local Apartment Burglaries
Police said burglars have targeted Woodcreek Drive apartment units in a string of recent break-ins, in which they gained entrance by cutting holes in the ceiling.
police are investigating several recent burglaries where the offenders cut holes in the ceiling to break into the Riverstone Apartments on Woodcreek Drive.
“It appears the offenders are entering a utility/fire hatch in the hallway and punching down through the drywall ceiling to access and burglarize the apartment,” Bolingbrook Lt. Michael Rompa said.
Police said the incidents in the Woodcreek Drive area are likely linked.

“The modus operandi appears very similar,” Rompa said.
Items taken during the burglaries have included jewelry, a laptop, gaming equipment and money.

Several of the burglaries have taken place during the typical work day, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
