Bill Foster, Judy Biggert React to Romney's VP Pick

Bill Foster, candidate for the 11th Congressional district, released a statement Saturday following Romney's choice of Paul Ryan for his running mate.

Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Janesville) will be his vice presidential running mate Saturday morning.

Ryan, 42, has served in the House of Representatives for 14 years, currently chairing the House Budget Committee and serving on the House Ways and Means Committee. In January 2010, Ryan gained attention nationwide after unveiling his “Roadmap for America’s Future.”

Bill Foster is the Democratic candidate for the 11th Congressional District, which includes parts of many southwest suburban communities, including Bolingbrook, Darien, Montgomery, New Lenox, Plainfield and Woodridge, among others.

He released the following statement Saturday in response:

"Governor Mitt Romney’s choice of Congressman Paul Ryan, creator of the Republican budget that Congresswoman Biggert voted for that decimated Medicare, left Seniors with a bill of $6,000, and raised taxes on the middle class, all in order to protect tax cuts for corporations and billionaires, just shows how out of touch the Republican party is with ordinary people,” said Bill Foster.

“Congresswoman Biggert called the Ryan budget the best choice for Illinois, but in reality it was the best choice for the most wealthy people and for the corporations that fund her campaigns. The decisions made by Congresswoman Biggert are a clear indication of the direction she and her party have taken, where money and power is rewarded with tax breaks and favorable legislation. America’s economy is at it’s best when the middle class prospers. We need people in Washington who will stand up for middle class families."

Judy Biggert, the Republican candidate for the 11th Congressional District, released this statement:

“Paul Ryan is an exciting choice for Vice President. He’s a smart, dynamic leader who has never been afraid to roll up his sleeves and dig in to the tough issues.  He cares deeply about bringing fiscal sanity to Washington and growth back to our economy. And Americans are ready for strong leaders with the passion and expertise to turn our economy around and get people back to work. Paul Ryan has that, and he brings Midwestern common sense and simple clarity to the debate that will serve him well, especially when it comes to turning back the misleading attacks that he’ll face on the trail. Voters like facts more than attacks, and he’s a guy who can deliver.”

Foster is a has been that is trying to lie his way back to his puppet master. EVERY tax increase I have gotten in my 64 years on earth have been by the Democrates.

Judy Biggert needs to be retired. She is the darling of big corporate interests and doesn;t care about we the people. She voted against healthcare reform while accepting campaign donations from the medical-pharma lobby. That is a clear conflict of interest in my opinion but apparently not hers.
This all too cozy relationship between Judy Biggert and her business super pacs is the root cause of whats wrong with America. My vote will go to Bill Foster.

You go Tawanda, you vote for the handouts.
Olddeegee August 11, 2012 at 09:43 pm
This will be interesting seeing as how Romney just lost a big chunk of the senior citizens vote by adding Ryan. They're not a group known to vote against their interests. The Romney campaign is beginning to make the McCain campaign look like a well oiled machine. Biggert needs to go, her kissing up to corporate interests is sickeningly obvious.
Olddeegee August 11, 2012 at 09:46 pm
No Tawanda is voting against corporate handouts. The Republican meme of "handouts" is really flimsy, but they're so blind with anger at having Obama as President that they can't see it.
Alex August 11, 2012 at 10:29 pm
Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush actually raised taxes on middle class families and Reagan spent more money in 8 years than all the previous presidents combined. This would have happened in the 64 years of your existence. But you could be part of the 1 percent which in turn would make me wrong, although, not sure why you on Plainfield Patch and not in the Bahamas.
Moe August 11, 2012 at 11:18 pm
Alex,
Can you describe the "middle class"? And, What percentage of United States is actually "middle class"?

Biggert represents coprorate interests, wether big pharma or big polluters. She has callous indifference and contempt for the average wage earner. I stopped voicing my opinion with her on issues a long time ago because I was clearly being ignored. I am sure if she loses the election, she will be hired by one of the powerful interests she's been serving as a lobbyist.
Our democracy has been corrupted by powerful business interests and Judy Biggert has benefitted from this.

Most people tell me that I waste a vote if I don't vote for a democrat or republican. I'd like to reverse that statement back to those who say that. If you vote for a democrat or a republican you are wasting your vote. Because it does not matter who wins. Both sides are paid off equally by the corporate powers and the money bags. Both parties have built a system based upon a system of bribery. If you bribe them and give them enough money you'll get results from them and if you don't they could care less about you. I urge everyone to quit voting for democrats and republican. Mainstream media, including this article, ignores any and all other third party candidates. There's more choices than just Obama and Romney.

It is time for Biggert to retire. She no longer represents her constituents

Bill Foster voted for Obamacare even though 60+% of the people were/are against it. He most likely didn't even read it before he voted for it. Nancy Pelosi said, " We have to pass it so we can find out what's in it." Bill Foster is in the pocket of the trial lawyers, unions and environmental extremists. We need to keep Judy Biggert in Congress to represent all of us. Bill Foster offers no solutions..just tax the rich and keep spending our tax dollars on more welfare. Foster's priorities encourage more unemployment and more poverty. He will bring Greece to the US.

WOW! What a shock, Mr Bill Foster is 100% wrong, or just isn't being exactly truthful. (I hope not, that latest ploy by the Democratic party is down right low).
First of all that Republican Budget he cites and moans about was never passed. Democrat Harry Reid refused to bring it to a vote in the Senate. And 'his' Senate and the House when under the Democrats have passed exactly ZERO BUDGETS since Obama's been in office. Secondly, it was Obama who "decimated Medicare". He took $450 BILLION Dollars -- FROM Medicare -- and transfered it to 'ObamaCare'. And today Obama is touting another $75 BILLION Dollars they took away FROM SENIOR benefits in other cuts..Oops, maybe Mr Foster should check with his handlers about the current talking points. Lastly, what does Bill Foster know about "standing up for the Middle Class families"? He isn't one, never was one, and he's never had a REAL job in his adult life. By profession he's a Physicist and worked at Fermilab - a GOVERNMENT JOB, funded by those middle class family's TAXES. And when he wasn't living off taxpayer's as a PhD, he was living off them as a one-term congressman. The only time he ever had to worry about being fired. And FIRED he was. And rightly so.
Mike G. August 12, 2012 at 10:42 pm
Tawanda, buy a clue. That pharma lobby you complain about WROTE ObamaCare.
As to voting against healthcare reform, have you ever heard of that US Constitution thingy? Try reading it. Regardless of what the Supreme Court ruled, 'ObamaCare' is unconstitutional. FYI, the US Government does not have the power to compel anyone to buy anything. It also does not have the power to 'give' healthcare, aka, Insurance to anyone..Or anything else for that matter, but that's another issue. Have a nice day.
Mike G. August 12, 2012 at 10:46 pm
to Tawanda.
There you go again. The USA is not a 'democracy'. We are a Constitutional Republic.. (a democracy is: Two Wolves and a Sheep voting on what's for dinner)
Mike G. August 12, 2012 at 10:58 pm
Ditto. Very well said!
Dan F. August 13, 2012 at 03:28 pm
So Tawanda is definitely NOT Bill Foster's first wife that divorced him.
Dan F. August 13, 2012 at 03:32 pm
Bill's the man who can bridge the gap! Millionaire 1%er for gosh sakes and already has been writing huge checks to pay more taxes....huh? he hasn't? Oh. Nevermind.
Dan F. August 13, 2012 at 03:36 pm
I could not be more pleased that I can now vote for Judy Biggert. Democrat men hate her because she is strong on women's issues and understands money. Bill Foster got shown the door after one term showed he did not represent anyone but Washington DC.
russ harrison August 16, 2012 at 02:30 pm
Why is anyone surprised that an elected official does't know everything going on, even in their own party? That may be why Independent candidates are becoming more effective...they have less masters to serve!
Tracy Burke Schafer September 21, 2012 at 07:56 pm
Strong on womens issues?? Give me a break! She voted against the fair pay act and a list of so many others. The Republicans are holding the tax cuts for us hostage until the corporations receive their handout. The Affordable Care Act is helping me and every woman I know. I don't know who these 60%+ people that were polled are from..maybe they polled a country club, but now my sister can stop cutting her pills in half, because the closing of the "donut hole", and I can get my healh screenings I need because I could not afford the co-pays before. I also have a pre-existing condition which I am protected from descrimination with "Obamacare".
A couple moms I know are on food stamps too.(and they are NOT lazy bums) I know Judy Biggert is not representing our interests. Judy..stop trying to cut programs for the poor!

She also voted against equal pay for women. Glad she didn't win tonight. Congrats Bill Foster.

I can't imagine what a customer could do that would cause a cashier to yell at them. Can you expandRead More a little on the situation? I shop there often but generally use the self-scan. There is one cashier that works that area that can be quite rude. It took me a minute to get my ID out and she went off on me. Sorry I wasn't as prepared as I should be but it isn't often that a 45+ woman is asked for ID.
