Board Approves Pay Raises for Some Library Workers

The Fountaindale Public Library approved the bump in pay at its meeting Thursday evening.

Some workers at the will receive a pay raise later this year thanks to action taken by the library's board of trustees Thursday night.

The board met at the library for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting and approved a 2.4 percent merit increase for those meeting expectations or above.

That means for an average librarian in the United States making $56,547, an approximate $1,357 pay raise would be in line for those that meet merit qualifications.

The increase is in line with what the Management Association of Illinois has recommended for its members this year, said .

The MAI is a not-for-profit employers' association that provides human resources, compensation, legal, training and employee benefits services.

Last year, MAI recommended a 2.7 percent bump to merit increases.

Library Will Be Closed Sept. 11

Due to restricted parking and the amount of parking needed for the , the library will be closed to better accommodate parade goers.

Sept. 11 is a Sunday and library hours will return to normal that following Monday.

Library Construction Set to End at the End of October

Construction officials that have been overseeing the building of the new library and the demolition of the old one informed board members that the fourth and final phase of the construction project will likely be done by the end of October or early November.

Graham Harwood, of the Owners Services Group, said phase three should be completed by the end of August, at which point the library will have roughly double the parking it has now.
