Bolingbrook Fire Chief Applying for Position in Waukesha, WI

The village of Bolingbrook has removed the position of fire chief from its budget, effective May 1.

Bolingbrook Fire Chief Dave Litton is in the running to become fire chief of a Milwaukee suburb.

Litton is one of four finalists applying to become fire chief of the Waukesha Fire Department, according to Waukesha Patch. He is one of two outside candidates applying for the job; two current Waukesha Fire employees are also in the running.

The Waukesha Police and Fire Commission will interview the finalists again the week of April 8. There were a total of 48 applicants seeking the top position in the Waukesha Fire Department.

Bolingbrook's fire chief position will be cut, effective May 1, when the village will combine its police and fire chief positions. The Bolingbrook fire and police departments will then answer to Bolingbrook Police Chief Kevin McCarthy, whose title is redefined as "public safety director."

A 27-year veteran of the Bolingbrook Fire Department, Litton was sworn in as chief of police in September 2008.
