Bolingbrook Gas Tax to Go Up Aug. 1

Expect higher prices at the pump.

In addition to approving a gun range and a new animal hospital, the Bolingbrook Village Board on Tuesday OK'd a two-cent gas tax increase.

The increase, which brings the village's tax tax to 7 cents per gallon, takes effect Aug. 1.

In April, nearby Plainfield decided to repeal a sunset provision and keep a 2011 gas tax increase in place. Plainfield's gas tax is 4 cents per gallon.

The reason for the tax raise is to pay for Claar's name they are putting on the new Bolingbrook high school auditorium and the sign is going to have Clasr's name and two martini glasses!

Over 1000 trees need to be cut down, trimmed and replaced, we have more shopping than I can even count, and more homes being built to ADD to the tax base and WE have to pay more in taxes than any other municipality in Will Co. Take the bank from our Mayor NOW!!!!

Kindly do your homework before posting stupid remarks. Trees are dying and have to be removed they will fall into the street and the USDA has issued requirements to destroy infested trees. On average interstate communities have 65-70% of gas buyers come from out of town. A 1 penny will really not affect the per gallon costs. As for the school auditorium being named after the mayor I am told he donates thousands of dollars to the students of Bolingbrook annually. What do u you do?? Beside blog and bitch.

I wonder how many gallons per year are pumped in Bolingbrook? Million gallons gets us $20,000, That won't pay for much. Anyone have an Idea?
