Bolingbrook Park District's Summer Solstice Schedule of Events

Learn a new skill, meet interesting creatures or improve your "green" side by exploring how a Rain Barrel can benefit you and the environment. 

The event runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free for all events.

The Hidden Oaks Nature Center is located near the intersection of Boughton and Schmidt roads and is a family-friendly park that encourages exploration. 

The park is just one of more than 100 platinum LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) buildings in the country. Basically, that means Hidden Oaks is a pioneer, so to speak, in the green initiative developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. 

Everything from the adhesive underneath the carpet to the bike racks outside the building is made of materials that keep in mind the carbon footprint they leave on the Earth.
