Bolingbrook Trustees: Tobacco Laws Apply to E-Cigarettes, Too

Some cities, including Chicago, have banned the smoking of electronic cigarettes in public places.

If you want to sell electronic cigarettes in the Village of Bolingbrook, you have the follow the same rules as tobacco products.

Last week, village trustees voted to classify e-cigarettes in the same way as tobacco products, meaning the same licensing and sales regulations must be followed by retailers.

Other cities — including Chicago — are also applying tobacco laws to e-cigs.

Many cites, including Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C. have all passed laws restricting the use of e-cigarettes in public places. Just like regular cigarettes, e-cigarette smokers are now banned from "lighting up" indoors at Chicago bars and restaurants.

What do you think? Should the same rules apply to e-cigarettes as tobacco products?
