Village Board Approves Garbage Contract with Reduced Rate

The contract with Groot Industries Inc. will cost residents $17.78 per unit per month, compared to the current rate of $18.28 per month, according to the Chicago Tribune.
That rate is the lowest of 20 communities in the Chicago area, according to a price survey completed by the village.

That reduced rate will continue until May 1, 2013, when there will be a scheduled increase of 50 centra. After that, from 2014 to 2019, the rate increase will be based on the consumer price index with a 2 percent minimum and 4 percent maximum, according to the Trib.
In February, village officials approved a measure that would require residents to purchase $2.50 stickers for each bag of yard waste and bundle of sticks left at the curb for Groot to pick up.
