Claar: Residents Missed Their Chance on Budget Talks
After holding one of three scheduled budget workshops on April 2, village officials have canceled the last two.
Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar essentially called out residents for being apathetic to budget talks Tuesday and said no more chances would be offered for those who missed the village’s one and only budget workshop earlier this month.
The village scheduled three budget workshops last month. Each of the three was held on Saturday mornings inside the village board room.
Six folks attended the first meeting, Claar said. And village officials canceled the second meeting last week.

Claar said the meeting was canceled because village officials already went through the budget line by line in its first meeting.
“When you go through the budget, you’re done,” Claar said. “And when you have limited resources as the economy dictates, there is no program expansion. You have to maintain the status quo.

“We met for three hours (in the first meeting) and it was all discussed. I’m sorry some of you missed it,” he said. "We're done."
Claar said the village will not layoff any of its workers this year and maintain the same lavel of services it did this year.
