In early August, the Will County Historic Preservation Commission said the area of land between the ends of 95th Street in Naperville and Kings Road in Bolingbrook—where the bridge is proposed—.

The commission could only discuss the historical significance of the site and not the building of the bridge. That means the vote had no real ability to alter plans— Forest Preserve District board member Jackie Traynere said the extension likely will still be built because the plans and funding already are in place.

The corridor improvement consists of two traffic lanes in each direction separated by a barrier median, left turn lanes where required, concrete curb and gutter, and an enclosed storm water drainage system, a highway department release said.

Also included in this project are a new crossing of the DuPage River, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along the corridor, and intersection improvements to Plainfield-Naperville Road at 95th Street and Kings Road at Boughton Road.
