Grabowski: 'I'm David Running Against Goliath'

Richard Grabowski, the Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, spoke at the Lewis/Grand Haven Candidates' Night Sept. 20.

Richard Grabowski, the Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, laid heavily into the David-Goliath metaphor at a recent candidates' night hosted by Lewis University and Grand Haven.

"I'm David running against Goliath," Grabowski said. "I need to borrow your slingshot. Do you have the stones to help make it happen?"

Grabowski is running against Democrat and incumbent Dan Lipinski. Lipinski was not present at the Sept. 20 candidates' night at Grand Haven in Romeoville, which allowed candidates representing the area meet and speak to voters. Since the House of Representatives was in session, Lipinski was in Washington, DC. A representative from his office was present but not allowed to speak.

Grabowski said Lipinski is a "bought and paid for Congressman," funded by Mike Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois.

"I'm an ordinary citizen just like you," Grabowski said. "An ordinary citizen best represents the people."

Grabowski said he is pro-family, pro-life, pro-business and pro-Second Amendment. He wants to defend the traditional American way of life, defending the Constitution, balance the budget, lower taxes, protecting borders, enforce immigration laws and have something to pass on to future generations.

Grabowski called on the audience to help put his campaign on the "political radar" and "fight the Democratic machine to keep it from going deeper into the suburbs."

One audience member asked Grabowski if he agreed with former President George W. Bush's policies. Grabowski said he did generally agree. "I'm conservative, as well," he said.
