Homeowner Tutorial: Ways to Save on Your Property Tax Bill

State Rep. Emily McAsey partners with Will County supervisor of assessments to present "Understanding Your Property Tax Bill" on Thursday at Fountaindale Public Library.

Nobody likes to pay property tax bills. And few understand the assessment process and exemptions that may lower property tax bills.

With that in mind, state Rep. Emily McAsey (D-85th District) is partnering with Will County Supervisor of Assessments Rhonda Novak to present "Understanding Your Property Tax Bill," according to a news release issued by McAsey's office.

The program—free and open to the public—begins at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 29) at Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook.

"Understanding your property tax bill can be difficult," McAsey stated in the news release. "I am partnering with the supervisor of assessments to help residents navigate the property tax bill process.

"Residents will also learn more about the exemptions available to them to help lower their property tax bill."

The presentation by the Office of the Supervisor of Assessments will include information about assessed valuations of property and helpful tax exemptions like the senior citizens' assessment freeze, general homestead exemption, disabled veterans' homestead exemption and disabled persons' exemption, according to the news release.

For more information, call McAsey's office (815) 372-0085.
