IKEA Donates Two Lincoln White Oaks to Hidden Oaks Nature Center

The trees are part of a growing learning forest, where every tree represents a part of America's journey.

Every tree has a story, and thanks to , those stories are being told and preserved by the Bolingbrook Park District.

On Wednesday, IKEA representatives were on hand to donate and help plant two Lincoln White Oaks near the  and .

The Lincoln White Oaks are named after President Abraham Lincoln and were grown from acorns collected from the white oak near Lincoln’s Tomb. While campaigning for the presidency Lincoln delivered many of his great orations amongst oak groves that provided cool shade for onlookers. 

In addition to their historical significance, trees benefit the environment and community in a number of ways, including the reduction of carbon dioxide in the air, providing a habitat for wildlife and beautifying our community.
