Incumbents Win Re-Election in Village Board Race

Of the six races that Bolingbrook residents could vote on, five were won by incumbents. The other was won by the candidate supported by incumbents.

Tuesday was a good day to be an incumbent in Bolingbrook.

Despite , five of the six races that Bolingbrook residents vote on were won by those candidates already holding the position.

And the one race that had no incumbent running was overwhelmingly claimed by the candidate that the incumbents fully endorsed.

In what has been a hotly contested Village Board race, voters ultimately chose to stick with , and —all running on the First Party for Bolingbrook ticket—rather than vote in newcomers and Rhonda Reed-Slaughter, both of whom ran as independents.

Among Will County voters, Brown snagged the most votes of any Village Board candidate, garnering 24 percent of the vote. Morales and Schanks, meanwhile, followed suit and received 19.9 percent and 19.6 percent of the vote respectively.

Reed-Slaughter, who runs The Number Crunchers blog, finished in third with 9.8 percent of the vote, while Bowen, who is tight with , finished in fourth with 8.6 percent.

Results will be made official April 26, when all absentee, provisional and grace period ballots are counted.
