New Library Policy Gives Director More Freedom With Financial Contributions

New policy will allow the Fountaindale Public Library to make $500 contributions to local organizations.

A new library policy will give its director more authority in how much money he can give to local organizations.

The policy was passed by the board of trustees last month.

Under the old policy the library's director could make contributions to local activities of an educational nature or to groups that enhanced the image of the library in the community.

Now, under the new policy, the director can make contributions to "local organizations which advance the mission of the library."

The director is limited to giving one contribution per organization per year without board approval.

In each policy version, the director was to not exceed $500 in a given contribution without prior board approval.
