President Obama Selects Bolingbrook Graduate to Join Administration

Deepa Gupta, who graduated from BHS in 1994, will join National Council for the Arts.

President Barack Obama tabbed one of Bolingbrook’s own last week to join his team in a key administrative post.

Obama, who announced he would be seeking re-election in 2012, tapped Deepa Gupta, who graduated from in 1994, to join the National Council for the Arts.

Gupta was one of nine individuals Obama selected to join his administration.

Gupta currently is a program officer for media, culture and special initiatives at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago, where she manages the foundation’s grant-making in arts and culture, according to a White House news release.

“I am grateful these accomplished men and women have agreed to join this administration, and I’m confident they will serve ably in these important roles,” Obama said in the release. “I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.”

After graduating from Bolingbrook, Gupta earner her bachelor’s degree in public policy and biology from the University of Chicago. She then earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a masters in public administration  from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
