Pretrial Hearings for Accused Child Pornographer Nearing Final Phase

Aaron Riley, the accused child pornographer from Bolingbrook, will likely go to trial in early 2012.

Attorneys representing Aaron Riley, the accused child pornographer from Bolingbrook, were granted on Tuesday a request for more time to forensically analyze hard drives seized from Riley's home in October 2010.

Riley, 56, appeared in a Will County courtroom Tuesday morning in front of Judge Sarah F. Jones. The case is nearing the final phase of discovery hearings before going to trial.

Jones granted Riley's attorneys their request for more time for forensic experts to complete analyses of hard drives seized from Riley’s home at the time of his arrest. Riley's final pretrial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 24.

Riley was and charged with 10 counts of aggravated child pornography, a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison. His arrest was the 10th made under Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s crackdown on child porn traffickers, dubbed “Operation Glass House.”

Under the initiative, Madigan's office used IP addresses to track down people trading child pornography in Illinois. At an Oct. 26, 2010 news conference, Madigan said police found a room filled "floor to ceiling" with child pornography in Riley's Bolingbrook home.

At the conclusion of Tuesday’s hearing, Jones cautioned Riley is not allowed to come into contact with children 18-years-of-age and younger that aren't related to him and reiterated he is not allowed to operate a computer except for work-related purposes, as terms of his bond.
