Report: Bolingbrook Man Gets Jail Time for Sexual Abuse

Ronald Smajda, 58, will serve 10 years in prison for sexually abusing the daughters of a woman he was dating.

A Bolingbrook man accused of sexually abusing the daughters of a woman he dated was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday, a Chicago Sun-Times report said.

Ronald Smajda, 58, of the first block of Fernwood Drive, to two counts of aggravated sexual abuse to a child under 13 years of age.

Smajda was originally charged with nine counts of aggravated or predatory criminal sexual abuse to a child under 13—seven of those counts were dropped.

The charges stem from offenses dating back to 1995.

According to the report, Smajda must also spend his life as a registered sex offender, Will County State’s Attorney spokesman Chuck Pelkie said.

Prosecutors, according to the report, say Smajda abused his older victim from 1995 until 2000, and the younger victim from 1998 until 2004. The girls turned 7 and 8, respectively, the years their abuse began.
