Parks Commissioner Piekarski Dies

Visitation is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday followed by a wake service at Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Home.

Dave Piekarski, a Bolingbrook Park District commissioner since 2004, died Tuesday morning, park district officials confirmed.

Piekarski, who lived in , served the board treasurer when he died, but also held a stint as board president.

Piekarski was also active with Bolingbrook Community Basketball, Bolingbrook Lions Club and other service organizations.

"We are saddened by the passing of a longtime friend and commissioner of the Bolingbrook Park District, Dave Piekarski," the district said in a statement. "His contributions and service will be greatly missed by the Bolingbrook community. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time."

Piekarski's visitation is set for 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a wake service at Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Home and a memorial mass will be held at at 10 a.m. on Friday.
