Tilted Kilt Granted Extended Hours, Outdoor Dining

When the Tilted Kilt opens later this year, it will have outdoor dining and extended hours of operation, thanks to action taken by the Bolingbrook Village Board Tuesday night.

The village board unanimously voted to grant the restaurant, perhaps best known for its Kilt Girls, a special use permit that will allow it to stay open until 2 a.m. on the weekends and 10 p.m. on weekdays.

The restaurant will be moving into a 6,000-square foot space at 1051 S. Weber Rd. near the intersection of Weber Road and Remington Boulevard. 

Tilted Kilt has come under fire from locals in communities where the restaurant has sought to expand. 

In April a group of  to Tilted Kilt. The pressure eventually got to Evanston officials, as Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl rejected a liquor license for the restaurant.

"The reasons for the denial stem from the public safety concerns expressed by the residents and the fact that the proposed licensee's establishment does not comply with recognized Evanston community standards," Tisdahl wrote in her rejection notice.

"The applicant simply cannot overcome the strong community-based opposition to placing a congested and noisy bar in that proposed location."
