Trial Nears For Bolingbrook Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing

Marco Rodriguez, accused of killing Roberto Cortez of Romeoville, appeared in a Will County courtroom Monday.

As a trial approaches for the Bolingbrook man police say fatally stabbed a Romeoville man in 2009, lawyers say a small amount of discovery remains to be had and the two sides will meet again in court May 9.

Marco Rodriguez, a Bolingbrook resident accused of killing Roberto Cortez, 30, of Romeoville, appeared in a Will County courtroom Monday morning for a status hearing.

Rodriguez allegedly killed Cortez after the two got into a verbal fight during a Christmas party on the 100 block of Campbell Drive.

Rodriguez was later arrested in a Des Plaines hotel.

Rodriguez remains in jail and spoke through a translator Monday. He is being charged with first-degree murder.
