Bolingbrook residents will soon be able to catch an early-morning workout at a new fitness center in the Market Square Center shopping plaza.
And if they pull a hamstring or drop a dumbbell on their toe? Not to worry. There will be a new urgent care office just a few doors down.
The village board voted Tuesday to grant two new businesses—Zip Fitness and Bolingbrook Urgent Care—special use permits that will allow them to operate out of the popular shopping center located off Route 53 near .
The Bolingbrook Urgent Care will occupy a 1,409-square-foot space at 148 S. Bolingbrook Dr. and operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The office will feature three fully-stocked exam rooms, a procedure room and have x-ray capabilities.
Zip Fitness, meanwhile, will occupy a 15,292-square-foot space at 126 S. Bolingbrook Dr. and will be open from 4 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
The fitness center received a special use permit to offer early and late hours of operation. The urgent care office was granted a permit to operate in a B-2 community retail zone despite generating little or no sales tax revenue.
Jim Reddinger, the businesses applicant for Zip Fitness, said he chose the location because of the close proximity to other conveniences such as Walmart.
The fitness center will offer two membership fees: $12.99 per month for regular membership and $24.99 per month for a deluxe membership. The deluxe membership, according to a village plan commission report, would receive 50 percent off drinks, would have guest privileges, could use the tanning facility and would have a personalized training and weight room.
