Who's Your Pick for President?

Bolingbrook Patch will begin polling its readers on a weekly basis to gauge their interest in the election, its candidates and what issues are most important to them.

Last week, Rick Perry ended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination and said he is endoring Newt Gingrich.

The Florida primary will be held on Jan. 31. Illinois' primary is set for March 20.

Bolingbrook Patch is polling its readers to gauge their interest in the election, its candidates and what issues are most important to them. This poll will be published each week until the end of the election season.

And at the end of the Illinois primary (March 20) and general election (Nov. 8), we hope these numbers will provide insight into how attitudes and ideologies shifted throughout what seems sure to be a cutthroat political atmosphere.

One more reason not to re-elect Obama!! I’m totally amazed and very angry that President Obama, and his administration are now going to force it down the throats of Catholics and other religious origination's that they now have to included in their employee’s health insurance, coverage for abortion pills, contraception and other medication/supplies related to birth control!! I am Catholic and against President Obama in doing this and I hope he will reconsider his decision! Why does President Obama now think he can do this?

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. See U.S. Const. amend. I. Freedom of expression consists of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the implied rights of association and belief. The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. Furthermore, the Court has interpreted the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting the rights in the First Amendment from interference by state governments.

I agree. The government shouldn't be funding abortions with my tax dollars. If a woman wants an abortion let her pay for it. Not my job to clean up their mistakes.

The arrival of another person, possibly unwanted by the parents, who will require an education and other supplemental funding for a lifetime, provided for by tax dollars may be the result of denying the funds to these programs. Just for the sake of discussion, ethics and morality aside, wouldn't it be more "fiscally responsible" to pay a little up front to minimize these occurrences?
