Arctic Wind Chill Readings Could Keep Valley View Schools Closed Monday & Tuesday

Wind chill readings are expected to dip to minus-30 or lower and likely will be a determining factor in the final decision on whether to close Valley View School District buildings Monday and Tuesday.

Due to a forecast that calls for extreme cold, officials at Valley View School District issued an alert early Friday evening to let parents know all district schools could be closed on Monday, Jan. 27, and/or Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The alert, issued via the district's ParentLink information system and by email contact from Community Relations Director Larry Randa, read:

"Due to the temperatures projected to be at minus-5 degrees with a wind chill of minus-30 or more on Monday, January 27, and Tuesday, January, 28, all schools may be closed for both days. A final decision and notification will be forthcoming on Sunday, January 26, before 5 p.m."
