B.J. Ward Crowned Battle of Library Cards Champion

The elementary school was crowned the winners of Fountaindale Library's Battle of the Library Cards.

For the sixth year in a row, B.J. Ward Elementary School was crowned the winners of Fountaindale Library’s Battle of the Library Cards.   

Sponsored by Fountaindale’s Outreach program and the Friends of the Fountaindale Public Library, the annual competition allows Bolingbrook elementary schools to compete in a library card registration drive.  The three schools with the highest percentage of students with current library cards win paperback book collections for their school’s library media centers.  The top placing school also is bestowed with a traveling championship plaque.

Ward averaged 90 percent participation with 11 classes registereing 100 percent. Ward Library Media Center Director Katie Thomas reports the library cards will be put to good use during Fountaindale’s monthly bookmobile visits to B.J. Ward.

This year’s Ward victory marks a special milestone for the school because current 5th grade students have won for their entire career at B.J. Ward.
