Bolingbrook High School Co-Ed Cheerleading Wins Sectional, Headed to State

The Bolingbrook High School varsity cheerleading squad won the Mahomet-Seymour sectional over the weekend.

The Bolingbrook High School varsity cheerleading squad is headed to state. 

The team won the Mahomet-Seymour sectional over the weekend. The team is now headed to the Illinois High School Association's coed team state championships Friday and Saturday in Bloomington. 

BHS scored 91.8 to edge Rich Central (90.5) in their sectional. Only Rolling Meadows sectional winner Buffalo Grove scored higher with a 93.33 total. South Elgin (88.73) won at Byron. Normal University High School (86.03) won at Mascoutah. Downers Grove South (89.33) won at Riverside-Brookfield.

Team members are: Courtney Barnes, Brandi Binkley, Jaelyn Burns, Cristina Cabral, Kaprice Chandler, Victoria Figueroa, Tarah-Lynn Freeman, Takia Jones, Molly Makowski, Courtney Marrow, Daizha Mason, Dejia Mitchell, Diamond Morris, Courtney Morrison, Emma Murray, Aaliyah Pruitt, Corvon Riley, Mayra Roman, Leah Thompson, Thomas Walker, Makita Williams, Traya Williams, and Kierstin Wnek.

Tammy North is head coach. Assistants are Gary North and Kiersten Reposh.

The state finals will take place in Bloomington. Top teams from Friday will advance to the state championship round on Saturday.
