BHS Grad Follows Family Tradition, Joins U.S. Marine Corps

A 2011 graduate of Bolingbrook High School will leave Sept. 4 for boot camp in San Diego.

Operation Welcome You Home Illinois organized a special send-off Sunday for a graduate joining the United States Marine Corp.

Sean Wickert is a 2011 graduate of Bolingbrook High School. After completing a semester at Lewis University, he decided to join the military.

Wickert leaves for boot camp in San Diego on Sept. 4.

He joins several other members of his family in military service. His grandfather, Don, served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. Two of his uncles served in the Army in the 1960's. His father, Ralph, was a sargeant in the Marines from 1972-1978. His family also had several other members serve overseas.

His great-uncle, Ed Krnak, rides with Operation Welcome You Home to support members of the military returning home from deployment.

Wickert attended and graduated with honors from Bolingbrook High School in 2011.

He enjoys playing baseball, wrestling and working out daily, according to a release.
