CHIME! looking for gently used instruments for low income VVSD students
CHIME!, a new not-for-profit organization, is launching an effort to collect used instruments so that children in Valley View School District 365U who might not otherwise be able to afford participation in band will be able to do so.
“If you, or someone you know, has an instrument that is no longer needed, this is a great way to help our children," said Aimee Rupsis, director of bands for Bolingbrook High School.
Because this is the first year of operation for CHIME! (Children Having Instruments for Music Education) the group’s instrument closet is empty. The number of low-income children served by CHIME! depends solely on the number of instruments that are donated. A donated instrument will be loaned to and used for years to come by students for years to come.
“Our goal is to never turn a child in need away and to offer the child’s first choice for an instrument whenever we can,” said a CHIME spokesperson. “Without the community’s help, we may not be able to keep that promise.”
Anyone who has an instrument to donate, or who would like to make a tax-deductible monetary donation, should contact CHIME! at 630-679-3546 or email email@example.com. Checks may be made payable to BHS CHIME.
