Bolingbrook High School’s Music Department will unveil the BHS Auditorium’s new Wenger Diva Acoustic Sound Shell during a free community celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the high school, 365 Raider Way.

The sound shell, made possible by nearly $80,000 in donations from students, parents, teachers, administrators, school board members, businesses, and community members, will not only allow musicians and conductors to hear a more accurate reflection of their performances, but will also provide an amazingly more professional sound for audience members.

”With the generous support of our donors as well as help from both Bolingbrook High School and Valley View capital outlay funds, our dream has become a reality,” said BHS parent Diane Parro, who spearheaded the campaign along with BHS Director of Bands Aimee Rupsis and Director of Choirs Lawrence Fisher. "Not only will this benefit all future bands and choirs at BHS, but it will also benefit the many bands and choirs that rent the BHS auditorium for their music performances."

The sound shell and the donor wall in the auditorium lobby will both be installed prior to the June 4event but will remain under wraps until just before  brief one-piece performances by both the BHS Sunrise Singers and the BHS Wind Symphony. Both groups will then join in the first-ever performance of the new BHS Alma Mater composed by Fisher with lyrics written by 2011 BHS graduate Kevin Nepomuceno.

A reception will follow in the BHS atrium.

FREE??? I would disagree, perhaps prepaid? I just received my tax bill!!! Why did Valley View raise taxes so much?

This project wasn't funded by the VVSD tax dollars. It was made possible through donations.

Keep believing that charles. BBSD is the worst in Will County and THIS is what they are spending ANY money on? ANY? I don't care where it came from, they should be addressing the fights, gangs, dress code, behavior and lack of grades rather than this. So glad I am leaving this garbage village.

Charles, where do you think "capital outlay funds" come from? It's Money from VVSD set aside for remodeling, vehicles, maintenance etc... At least if they rent it out we will get some $$ back. What about the $243,955.80 VVSD just paid to an employee that sued the district for wrongful dismissal in 2010. That doesn't include lawyer fees WE paid to fight and appeal the decision three times! Has anyone heard what is going on with the RHS teacher that sued a few months back? Maybe Patch should do a follow up

you people obviously have no idea about the music department at bolingbrook. as a student involved in both choir and band im proud to say that we have some of the brightest and most intelligent students in the school. the music depqartment rarely gets money to buy new equipment. this soundshell is very important to us. along with donations, the students in band and choir helped fundraise for this project so we can have better concerts. the music department is not like the sports deparment who recieves new equipment every year. if we want anything, new or used, we have to raise the money ourselves.
