Lili Nash, daughter of Valley View School District 365U Professional Development Coordinator Judie Nash, is one kick closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming a Radio City Rockette.

The 14-year-old Lili auditioned along with more than 1,000 young ladies nationwide for an opportunity to train and study with the Radio City Rockettes at their prestigious Rockette Summer Intensive in New York City.

Scores of alumnae from the program have eventually become Rockettes. The week-long program includes learning Rockette choreography, and performing in a showcase on the Radio City Music Hall stage.

Lili, is an honor student at Benet Academy (her mom’s alma mater), and active on the school’s junior varsity Avions Poms/Dance team.  She dances 20 hours per week, and volunteers as a teaching assistant at her dance studio.  Lili has been dancing since the age of two, and has studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and lyrical since she was 4 years old.   At 5-7 (and still growing), she has already met the Rockette height requirement.

When asked to describe her daughter Nash said “Lili is very patient with little children.  She’s hardworking and very focused in everything she does.”

On the list of Lili’s future aspirations are speech and language pathology, orthopedics, or working with the FBI.

Lili’s proud parents get emotional when talking about their daughter.

“I can’t say which of us is the most excited about the opportunity.  This is a big deal. Lili has wanted to be a Rockette since we took her to see the Christmas Spectacular when she was 9 years old,” Nash, a Channahon trustee, said.
