Five Candidates File for Valley View School Board on First Day

Two incumbents and three challengers filed petitions for the Valley View school board Monday.

Five candidates filed Monday for the four Valley View School District 365U Board of Education seats that will be on the April 9 ballot.

All five candidates were from Bolingbrook. Two incumbents, Chrystal Hansen and Ronnie Bull, were among them. There were also three challengers: Deborah Sykora, Sinatra Strong and Daniel Falese.

Deborah Sykora, of 316 Bedford, earned the top spot on the ballot in a lottery held this afternoon. The second ballot spot went to Sinatra Strong, of 1442 Hawk Drive, followed by Daniel Falese, of 488 Pheasant Chase, and incumbent Chrystal Hansen, of 418 Foxborough Trail.

Incumbent Ronnie Bull, of 15 Redspire, in Bolingbrook also filed later Monday and will be in the fifth slot on the ballot.

The seats held by Hansen, Liz Campbell, Bull and Jim Curran will be on the Tuesday, April 9 ballot. All seats are for four years.

Candidates must file by mail or in person at the VVSD Administration Center. Candidates who file from this point on will be placed on the ballot in the order in which their petitions are received. Petitions may be turned in between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 26.
