Frigid Forecast Could Delay Students' Return to Valley View Schools

Valley View School District officials are considering a move to keep schools closed on Monday, Jan. 6, because temperatures are expected to be well below zero and there is a fear for safety of students standing out at bus stops.

An ice-cold forecast could delay the resumption of classes in the Valley View School District.

The district—using its Parent Link email notification system—sent a message to parents in Bolingbrook and Romeoville today. The message reads like this:

"Hello, this is the Valley View Public School system, with an important message concerning possible extreme weather. Due to the temperatures projected to be at -14 degrees with a wind chill of -31 on Monday, Jan. 6, schools may be closed. A final decision and notification is forthcoming Sunday, Jan. 5, at around 8 p.m."
