Last Chance: Summer Learning Experience Enrollment Deadline

The deadline for ’s new Summer Learning Experience is Monday.

A down payment is required at enrollment time.

Registration forms and more information are available through the Summer Learning Experience website at http://summerfun.vvsd.org or by stopping in at the VVSD Administration Center, 755 Dalhart Dr., Romeoville.

Designed to continue a student’s learning momentum through the summer months, Summer Learning Experience will operate in two 4-week sessions from June 18 to July 13 and from July 16 to Aug. 10 at a cost of just $99 a week.   The program is for children who will be no older than fifth grade in the fall and at least five years old by Sept. 2, 2012. Students do not have to live in the Valley View School District.

The Summer Experience will focus on key reading comprehension and writing skills as well as hands-on common core math instruction during the morning session (8:15 to 11:30 a.m.) The afternoon session (12:30 to 3:30 p.m.) will include fun, engaging enrichment activities such as hands-on science, Readers Theatre, book talks and plenty of leisure motor skills time. Parents may sign up their child for either session ($198 for 4 weeks) or both sessions ($396 for 4 weeks.)

As an added bonus, all morning Summer Learning Experience participants will receive a free breakfast before their day begins, while all participants will receive a free lunch as well.

Busing within the VVSD boundaries is available to and from Summer Learning Experience for $25 extra each way per week. Plus the Friendship Center at HighPoint, the Bolingbrook Park District and the McGee PTO’s Shamrock Club will provide before-and-after school care for an additional charge. Busing is not provided for students who participate in before-and-after school care.
