Laura Lucas is New Assistant Principal at Irene King

Lucas was previously a reading specialist at Irene King Elementary School.

Reading Specialist Laura Lucas has been named assistant principal at the Romeoville school, succeeding Jeremy Majeski who left to take a position in another school district.

Lucas has been with since the 2003-04 school year, serving as reading specialist at King for a year, reading specialist at B.J. Ward for a year, a kindergarten teacher at Pioneer for four years and an early childhood special education teacher at Pioneer for three years. Prior to that, she was an early childhood inclusive special education teacher at Prairie Children Preschool in Indian Prairie School District 204.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in education, she holds a Masters of Education in reading and literacy with an English Language Learner endorsement from Benedictine University and a Masters of Educational Leadership from American College of Education.

Lucas will begin immediately.
