Oak View Receives $500 from Target to Buy Books

Target's nationwide Books for Schools program is designed to partner with "smart, passionate organizations" to ensure that kids have an opportunity to shine in their local communities.

has received a $500 grant from the store in to be used for the purchase of books for the school’s library.

“Target is committed to giving back to the community and especially to our school district,” said Andrew Madres, executive team leader for the Bolingbrook Target store. “Through the Books for Schools program, Target is hoping to give out $1 billion to schools by 2015.”

“I like the fact that we’re giving this money to the reading program,” added Lydia Walen, assistant to the human resources manager at the Bolingbrook Target, and a product herself of the Valley View school system. “I believe reading is critical to moving kids forward. When you start them reading early, it helps them excel.”
