UPDATE: 1 Man Suffers Gunshot Wounds; Incident Leads to Lockdown of Bolingbrook Schools

Police report shooting "not related" to the schools and the word from a district official is that children were never in any danger.

Because of a shooting in the area, Bolingbrook High School was placed on a "hard lockdown" for a period of about 10 minutes on Thursday after student dismissal.

And four other Bolingbrook schools—Jane Addams, Brooks, Oak View and Independence—were placed on soft lockdowns, according to Valley View School District 365U Director of Community Relations Larry Randa.

Residents were notified via the school district's ParentLink alert system.

"The lockdowns lasted for about 10 minutes but are now over," the alert said. "Your children were never in danger. This was done as a safety precaution."

Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa said the shooting was "not related to the school but precautionary measures (were) taken."

He said Bolingbrook police received a 9-1-1 call in reference to shots fired in the area of Kingsbrooke Court and Kingsbrooke Crossing at 1:58 p.m. Thursday.

"Officers responded to the area and were advised two male, black subjects were observed shooting at the end of the court," Rompa said.

He said officers reported one subject fled the area in a silver or white four-door Chevrolet. Another—identified only as a male victim—was injured at the scene.

"The male victim was located and it was learned the victim and the offenders are known to each other," Rompa said. "He is being treated for a gunshot wound to his midsection."

Rompa said the incident remains under investigation. No other details are available at this time.

PLEASE, Mayor Claar, bulldoze Fernwood, Innswood, etc, crack down on absentee landlords who rent their houses out to anyone. This is how the suburban ghettos like Maywood started and now the filth are moving further west!!!

Bolingbrook has become popular lastly regarding vandalism, shooting, death, really upsets me even tough I love this city for its increasingly growing nice Malls, Restaurants for all tastes, movie theaters, etc. Really wish that Mayor Claar sets stronger measures.

@Bolingbrook; You're missing the point. The fact that you saw the word "black" and focused your attention on that rather than two human beings shooting at each other in our neighborhood is really sad. It's too bad this activity is moving into our quite neighborhoods. I couldn't care less if they are black, white, or green. Neither should you or anyone else.

I think alot of the issue is the section 8 Bolingbrook has it needs to go Chicago kicked it out and the suburbs got hit with its problems now. Mayor Clarr needs to get rid of section 8 housing in out town and we won't pay for a bunch of scumbaggs of any race ok live for free while selling drugs, shooting people, stealing, and even gang banging here in town our town has gone down hill fast and sad part is those who pay for there homes and taxes get screwed over every year by those who live for free and there kids goto school for free on everyone else's money. Sad part section 8 people half of them have MINEY from illegal so called jobs. (Activities) and have better things then those who work there butts off for what they have just to be ruined by others. Our problems came when Chicago kicked them out here now we got stuck

@ Bolingbrook...Right! Not one person is safe NO MATTER how "quiet", "nice looking", or "friendly" you want and wish the village of Bolingbrook to be. We have to worry about SHOOTINGS AND CRIMES (drug transactions) GOING ON INSIDE THE SCHOOLS, especially at the high school. There are different ethnicity groups IN BOLINGBROOK that did/are doing crimes that should NOT be happening, but it has/is (attempted kidnapping, rape, murder, children and women being abused, white collar crime INSIDE THE VILLAGE OF BOLINGBROOK LOCAL GOV OFFICES, etc.) Both my mom's and dad's families lives in Bolingbrook since the 1970s and it USED TO BE A TOWN WITH LOW CRIMES, but NOT crime free. It is sad and unfortunate these crimes are increasing, but the income, ethnicity, and clean background record of a person...IS NO GUARANTEE THAT A PERSON WON'T COMMIT A CRIME. I used to be ignorant like that when I younger, thinking a town is great due to how "quiet", "nice looking", and "friendly" that town is, but after I bought my house in Bolingbrook, I had A RUDE AWAKENING! Has anyone checked to see HOW MANY SEXUAL OFFENDERS THAT LIVE IN BOLINGBROOK??? IT BLEW MY FREAKIN MIND!!! WHERE'S THE NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT THAT??? People posting with such AN IGNORANT VIEW on crimes happening in Bolingbrook...WAKE UP PEOPLE!
