It's a Snow Job: Valley View Driver Won't Let Polar Temps Freeze His Bus Engine

Randy Serrano was dressed in heavy layers as he headed out to start his bus on Monday morning, his work in preparation for the resumption of classes in the Valley View School District.

The little kids stayed home.

The big kids were hard at work.

While extreme weather conditions and wind chill values running well below zero led to a decision by Valley View School District officials to close buildings and cancel classes on Monday, some district employees still were on the job.

Members of the VVSD transportation team and grounds crew were out working to clear snow from parking lots and starting bus engines to make sure everything is ready to go when classes resume. Included was Randy Serrano.

Serrano, a Valley View bus driver, was bundled up in a Polar-looking outfit when he went to start his bus and was captured in this photograph shared with Patch by the Valley View School District.
