Valley View Board Recognizes State Scholars
More than 60 Bolingbrook High School seniors were named Illinois State Scholars.
The Board of Education recognized 95 high school seniors that have been named Illinois State Scholars this year.
Illinois Student Assistance Commission recognized 17,335 students from 749 high schools from across the state as 2011-12 Illinois State Scholars. Winners rank in the top 10 percent of high school seniors, with selection based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores and/or class rank at the end of the junior year.
Rachel Kinder, assistant superintendent of education, middle and high schools for Valley View, attributes the increase in the number of Illinois State Scholars at and high schools to several factors.

“Although there are always variables in a particular cohort of students, the increase in rigor in the curriculum, as well as the increase in the number of students being exposed to rigorous curriculum in college preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement courses has increased significantly (in Valley View),” Kinder said.
