Valley View Cancels Today's After School Activities; School Still on For Tomorrow

officials have canceled after school activities today out of safety concerns.

This includes all sports games and practices.

Elementary school after-school child care programs will be held as usual. At the moment, schools will still be open tomorrow and buses will run on their regular schedules.

"Out of concern for the safety of our children and our staff, all after school activities have been canceled for today, Thursday, Jan. 12," Larry Randa, a district spokesman, said. 

has also canceled all of its children's activities—Rock Club, junior high, Solid Rock Choir—and its "Thursday Prayer".

According to the National Weather Service, between two and four inches of new snow accumulation can be expected this evening. Friday's forecast calls for areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow before noon. Wind chill values could be as low as 4-below-zero.
