Valley View Elementary Students Audition for Parts in 'Joseph'

"My hope is that your child will love it so much that they will be eager to pursue theatre in junior high and then work with us again once they get to BHS," says program director Mark Wayne.

More than 30 Valley View School District 365U elementary school students spent the first part of their weekend trying out for the Children’s Choir that will perform in the Bolingbrook High School production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

“Being involved in such a production is a huge honor,” Mark Wayne, director of the March 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22 musical wrote to parents in his invitation to tryout. “I am extremely excited for the chance to work with you and your children. My hope is that your child will love it so much that they will be eager to pursue theatre in junior high and then work with us again once they get to BHS.”

Wayne’s plan is to have two separate children’s choirs to ease the work load a bit. One choir would perform March 14, 15 and 22 (matinee.) The other would perform March 16, 21 and 22 (evening.)

Rebecca Battista-Sullivan, an accomplished music teacher (Tibbott and Salk) and performer, will direct both children’s choirs.

“Nearly 100 high school students put in hours upon hours to make our shows come to life,” Wayne told parents, adding the BHS students“can’t wait” to work with their elementary school counterparts.
