Valley View District, Teachers Union Mum on Contract Negotiations

Valley View School District 365U teachers have been working off of an expired contract since August.

Valley View School District 365U teachers have been working off of an expired teachers' contract since August, and officials on either side of the negotiating table are releasing little information as to when a new contract may be approved.

Members of the Valley View Council Local 604 of the American Federation of Teachers overwhelmingly voted down a proposed contract in September based on salary, higher insurance premiums and changes to the daily schedule, according to the Bugle. Of the 1,800 certified and classified members, 92 percent rejected the contract.

In November, the Bugle reported the union received a counter proposal and the union and the district were continuing negotiations. A teacher aide from Valley View said that as of Feb. 20, she had not received another contract to vote on.
