Valley View School District 365U has yet to finalize a district teachers' contract.
For the first time in more than a decade, the Bolingbrook Bugle reported, VVSD teachers recently rejected a proposed contract with an overwhelming vote. About 92 percent of the 1,800 certified and classified members rejected the contract, according to the Bugle.
The biggest issues, the Bugle reported, are "salary, higher insurance premiums and changes to the daily schedule." Increases to teacher salaries would not offset an increased insurance payment, the president of the teacher's union told the Bugle.
In the meantime, the district is operating off of a teacher's contract that expired in August.
